The english toytheatre is perhaps the most robust of all traditions at present.MDE productions have lifted it from oblivion and decay and publish new titles every month. These volumes are available through Pollocks museum and shop, Scala Street, London.

English toytheatre design is rather provincial in comparison with other countries. The exception being Orlando Hogdson BUT it has a charming  and original quality second to none. Landscapes and interiors are typical of the country. Characters usually bear the fashion of the 1800's. The best examples are the sailors stories. Black eyes Susan being one example.

Among the best specimen which have survived :
The horse of Troy designed by Orlando Hogdson.
Richard the third...

The proscenia are usually permitting some recess and vividly coloured

The Victorians have a stock of tricks within their cardboard characters. This aspect needs to be revived. Some motion can be imparted unto the figure, disappearances and change of characters also.
